The minutes from the last meeting were approved.

II.                   Principal’s Report: Laurie Lundin

The 6th grade snow flurry was a great success.  The new playground is going great.  Mrs. Lundin reported on and gave out copies of the School Improvement Plan, also the common core standard to replace the IL learning skills over the next 2-3 years.  It is to be a national test in place of state standardized tests, beginning with K/1 through 12th grade by the end.  Mrs. Lundin also reported on 2 new RIS programs Auto Skill and WIN(“What I Need”).  Both programs are expected to be beneficial to the students.
Mr. Lezon reported on Red Ribbon Week, our upcoming drug prevention and awareness program.  This year is expected to be a lot of fun.  “FredBird”, the St. Louis Cardinals mascot will be visiting.  Lots of great activities, “dress-up” days and prizes are scheduled.

III.                 Treasurer’s Report: Sally Cray

Mrs. Cray reported our fundraiser was a great success.  We has a $28,000.00 profit.  We need to decide what kind of payment to make to the board to pay back the loan for the playground.  We have really trimmed back our budget to accommodate the new school and playground.  The PTO board has decided to require a new form to be filled out by staff when requesting aid from the PTO.  When asked about the balance of the loan for the playground, Mrs. Cray answered the value of the playground was about $135,000.  Our bill was about $90,000, and the balance of that is about $50,000.  We are looking good but we still owe a substantial amount to the board (of education).

II.                   President’s Remarks: Theresa Gegen

Mrs. Gegen reported that the Fall Fun Party was a huge success.  We had a great year.  Mrs. Lundin added there was NO discipline problems. All involved agreed it was lots of fun and possibly our best year, even though the time was shortened to accommodate the early dismissal and bus schedule.  Mrs. Gegen remarked on the upcoming Limo Lunch, Friday October 21, over the lunch hours.  This is a reward for the kids that sold 30+ items (40+ for families) for the fundraiser.  We are looking for volunteers to chaperone the lunch at Godfathers Pizza, and to chaperone on the limo ride as well.

V.                   Boxtops: Heather Archey

Mrs. Archey reported that we met our usual target of $1,500 (15,000 boxtops).  Mrs. Humphrey and CDE were a great help with cutting and sorting.  Mrs. Kriss’ class brought in the most boxtops and won the pizza party.  We will be “blitzing” again in February.  We are looking good for our goal of $2,000.

II.                   Book Fair:  Heidi Ramsey

The book fair was again a HUGE success.  Many thanks to the great volunteers.  We sold $7,755.33 in books and merchandise.  Between the fair and our incentives we have almost 6,000 “scholastic dollars”.  We will take the number of teachers and divide the scholastic dollars accordingly.  The teachers will have the option to spend it as a team or in a classroom.  Winter Book Fair is coming up Jan 30-Feb 3.   Details to follow.

II.                   Friday Night Prime Time: Theresa Gegen

This is coming up Dec. 2.  Melissa Bandixen, Angi Resch, and Heather Archey have volunteered to co-chair.  Kids may come in their PJ’s, we will have 20 minutes of silent reading, PTO will provide a snack and a drink.  It was recommended by Mrs. Tinder to maybe try to get some of the elementary teachers to come and read some of the student’s old favorites.  All present agreed.

VIII:        FPS (Future Problem Solvers): Laurie Lundin/Theresa Gegen
Mrs. Lundin reported we had more students than ever.  We currently have 26 students.  Things
are going great.  We will continue to offer support.

 IX:           Winter Carnival:  Theresa Gegen
Mrs. Gegen reported that Winter Carnival is coming up February 2.  This is a great event, it went really well last year. The carnival is for 4th-6th only, and NO drop offs.  This is NOT a fundraiser, just a fun event for the kids.  We are looking for volunteers.  Starting in November we will begin having carnival meetings.  Mr. Koniak expressed an interest. It was recommended that we have a poster contest to really publicize it to all new students.  All in attendance were in agreement.

X.                   Parent Teacher Conferences:
PTO will again provide a meal and snacks for the staff during the upcoming all day parent teacher conferences.  Angi Resch volunteered her services.  Mrs. Lundin will provide dinner.

Meeting adjourned 7:40.
