RIS PTO Meeting
January 10, 2012
I. Welcome & Introductions: Theresa Gegan
Those in attendance: Laurie Lundin, Theresa Gegan, Heather Archey, Sally Cray, Angi Resch, Heidi Ramsey, Amy Talkington, Christy Crites, Nancy Harpring, Jennifer McDaniel, Lisa Barutcu
The minutes from the last meeting were approved.
II. Principal’s Report: Laurie Lundin
We received a check from Boxtops for $1672. 5th grade Snowflurry is upcoming Jan 20, Memorial Medical Center will be here, doing several different stations focusing on fitness and nutrition, as well as a tobacco free assembly by “Mad Science”. We have “engineer in the classroom” with Mr. Errands coming up, 5th grade creating the RUBE. RID finished PBIS this week. Yearbook club pictures are Friday, Young authors and Spelling Bee coming in February. Had great holidays and have had a great start to the New Year. Have been in the new building for a year now.
III. Treasurer’s Report: Sally Cray
The only change to the balance was payment for the 5th grade Snowflurry. Still looking very good. Our main focus is still paying back the district for the loan for the playground.
IV. Friday Night Prime Time: Angi Resch
Went great! The kids had fun. Mrs. Schwarts came and put on a great show with her story. 6 HS football players came and signed autographs after reading to their groups. Dan the Popcorn Man was a hit. Was very successful. Nancy Harpring volunteered her services for next year for a magic act with her husband.
V. Book Fair: Heidi Ramsey
Winter Book Fair running Jan 30- Feb 3, running during Winter Carnival. Mike Lezon to schedule the teachers. As soon as the teachers are scheduled, volunteers will be contacted. Anticipating emails to go out this week.
VI. Winter Carnival Planning Meeting: Theresa Gegan
Confirmed Team Leaders. Finalized registration times for Rocket pass check in, and early pick up times. Student Council will again provide dinner. Dinner will end promptly at 6. Poster Contest to get underway. Winners announced before the carnival, prizes to be book fair gift certificates. The major raffle prize to be an ipad, ipod touches, and 50 different gift cards. Mrs. Lundin will be getting the tables needed for all events. Next planning meeting Jan 31; 6:30 at RIS.
